Sherman W. Jones III has devoted over a decade of his practice to the defense of claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) and Defense Base Act (DBA).
Admitted to practice in Florida, Sherman is licensed in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Florida and Eastern District of Wisconsin. He is also a member of the DOL-Joint Bar Association and has litigated numerous DBA claims at the Office of Administrative Law Judges (OALJ) level, and several at the appellate level before the Benefits Review Board (BRB).
Sherman regularly attends the Annual Longshore Conference, where he has spoken on “Solutions for Presenting Foreign Testimony in DBA Claims.” He ranked on the Super Lawyers “Florida Rising Stars List” from 2021-2024.
He has prior experience in handling complex civil litigation involving products liability, wrongful death defense, premises liability, and personal injury defense. Additionally, Sherman has participated in arbitration pursuant to the CPR Institute, a non-profit specializing in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods.
He received a B.S. from the University of Florida and a J.D. with Honors from Florida State University College of Law. He was a member of his graduate school’s Dean’s List, as well as recognized with the Academic Excellence Book Award in Florida Workers’ Compensation and Statistical Inference in Law.
