Margarita (Maggie) Downes is a partner at Markovich Grover, where she represents employers and carriers in claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and Defense Base Act. With legal experience in both the U.S. and U.K., Maggie brings a unique international perspective to her practice. 

Maggie completed her undergraduate studies at Tufts University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History and French. Maggie later received her LLB with Honors from The City Law School in London, England, and subsequently attained her LL.M. from the University of Houston Law Center. Before joining Markovich Grover, Maggie worked closely with the firm’s founders at their legacy practice, where she established herself as a trusted advocate in complex litigation. Prior to her work as an attorney, she  worked as a journalist in London, providing daily comprehensive coverage of cross-border insolvencies and restructurings.

Maggie is licensed to practice law in Florida and Texas.
