Lauren brings over 15 years of legal experience to Markovich Grover, with a high concentration pertaining to the defense of claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA), Defense Base Act (DBA), and Texas Workers’ Compensation Act. She has a demonstrated history of providing strategic counsel and advocacy for clients, from initial investigation to file closure.
A distinguished student, Lauren received a full-ride to the University of Alabama, where she earned her B.A and graduated summa cum laude. She continued her studies at the University of Alabama School of Law, earning a J.D. with honors. During law school, she received multiple accolades, including the Family Law Section Award from the Alabama State Bar Association.
Lauren’s professional journey began with a series of roles that honed her research, writing, and advocacy skills. As a legal intern at NASA’s Office of Chief Counsel at the Kennedy Space Center, she gained hands-on experience drafting memoranda and contractual documents for multi-million-dollar projects. Her background includes clerking for a private firm, where she managed a diverse estate planning, insurance, and property law caseload. Prior to joining Brown Sims in 2010, Lauren contributed to the development of authoritative legal texts as an editorial assistant for Jones McClure Publishing.
As treasurer, director and senior partner at Markvoich Grover, Lauren is instrumental in handling intricate claims involving federal workers’ compensation statutes. She is also a sought-after presenter, regularly sharing case law updates at gatherings such as the Florida Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference and the Harmony Claims Management Conference.
Lauren is an active member of the American Bar Association, Dorbin Association (Women’s Legal Society, and Houston Association of Young Lawyers. Her commitment to professional advancement extends to training and client-focused presentations on emerging legal trends and best practices.
Admitted to the State Bar of Texas, Lauren is also licensed to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
