Kerry Chilton is a partner at Markovich Grover, who handles claims under both the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act (DBA). Kerry previously worked with the disAbility Law Center of Virginia and the Founders’ legacy firm. She has handled and overseen more than 100 Defense Base Act claims, representing clients at formal hearings before the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges and cases on appeal before the Department of Labor’s Benefits Review Board.

Kerry began her legal career as an attorney with the disAbility Law Center of Virginia where she was engaged in policy work, systemic initiatives, and individual representation in the areas of special education, ADA accessibility, juvenile justice and Medicaid. During her tenure at the disAbility Law Center of Virginia Kerry represented individuals in administrative hearings, state complaints, and mediations. She has also authored amicus briefs for cases on appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Kerry received both her Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Richmond, where she graduated cum laude with interdisciplinary majors in Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Law. Kerry was also inducted into the Phi Beta Delta International Honor Society. In law school, she served as vice president of the school’s Trial Advocacy Board. Kerry was also a John Marshall Scholar, the most prestigious academic merit award at the University of Richmond School of Law. Upon graduation from law school, Kerry was inducted into the Order of Barristers, an honor society for graduating law students who have excelled in oral advocacy. 

Kerry is licensed to practice law in Florida and Virginia, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Kerry enjoys representing clients in administrative trials and proceedings before the U.S. DOL.
