Carolina Phillips, a partner at Markovich Grover, has collaborated with the firm’s founders for the past five years, starting during their time at the predecessor firm.

Carolina’s practice is focused on cases under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Defense Base Act, and the War Hazards Compensation Act. Carolina first began her journey into the legal field in Venezuela as a member of the legal team at a Fortune 500 oil and gas company. After relocating to Texas, her career began in criminal law as a trial lawyer representing defendants accused of misdemeanors. Carolina has experience defending employers and their insurance carriers in federal workers’ compensation cases, and Texas Workers’ Compensation Act cases. She has tried multiple claims before the Office of Administrative Law Judges, drafted and filed appellate response briefs before the Benefits Review Board, and negotiated settlements on a multitude of claims.

Carolina earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence equivalent at the Universidad Católica Andres Bello School of Law in Venezuela before earning her Master of Laws (LL.M.) on Global Energy, International Arbitration & Environmental Law at The University of Texas at Austin. Carolina is licensed to practice law in both Texas and Venezuela.
