Partner

Ana Catalina Alvarez (Catalina) is a partner at Markovich Grover, where she focuses her practice on Defense Base Act (DBA) and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) matters. She brings more than 12 years of litigation experience, including seven years representing claimants in LHWCA and DBA cases. That foundation gives Catalina a clear understanding of claimant-side strategy, which she applies in advising employers and carriers on case strategy, exposure, and resolution.

Catalina manages cases from initial evaluation through formal hearings and resolution, and has significant experience leading both individual and mass mediations. She is known for her straightforward communication, sound judgment, and practical approach to assessing risk and moving cases toward defensible outcomes.

Catalina earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, where she achieved summa cum laude distinction, placing in the top 6% of her class. While in law school, she served as an articles editor for the Nova Law Review, received multiple Book Awards, and was a Merit Scholarship recipient. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Catalina is licensed to practice law in Florida.
