Associate Attorney
Michael Mejia is an associate attorney at Markovich Grover.
Before attending Florida International University for his associate’s and bachelor’s degrees, Michael joined the U.S. Army. During his service, Michael deployed to Iraq and Kuwait, where he served as an intelligence analyst supporting U.S. Special Operations Command on counterterrorism issues in Operation Inherent Resolve. Other roles performed during his military service included supporting law enforcement agencies such as the FBI, DEA and DHS as a counternarcotics analyst. Michael also worked as an intelligence analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency, receiving several medals for his service. Michael currently serves as an enlisted staff sergeant in the Florida Army National Guard.
Michael earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence and a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from St. Thomas University College of Law in Miami. There, he was the managing editor for the Journal of Complex Litigation and a member of the Intellectual Property Cyber Law Society. Michael is currently attending Florida International University for his Master of Arts in Global Affairs.
Prior to joining Markovich Grover, Michael worked with the Florida Office of the Attorney General in Ft. Lauderdale, the Board of Miami-Dade County Commissioners under Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz, Broward County Government as a legislative analyst and Florida-registered lobbyist, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami. He came to Markovich Grover following his work at the founders’ legacy firm. Michael’s extensive understanding of the defense industry and the inner workings of government agencies and political bodies plays a pivotal role in his practice arising under the Defense Base Act.
Michael is proficient in English and intermediate Spanish.
He is licensed to practice law in Florida.
